Hi!

I’ve landed back in Australia and have finally somewhat recovered from the jet lag. I made a grave error and turned off all of my alarms in my sleep and accidentally slept until 1:30pm yesterday which was less than ideal 😂 I went for a late night hot springs visit with my friend yesterday which helped me fall asleep at a reasonable hour. No screens & saunas seemed to work well!

I had a lovely layover in Shanghai on Monday. I landed at 5:00am and my plane didn’t leave until 11:30pm that night so I booked a hotel (Vienna International) on Agoda for ~$60. They had a free shuttle and let me check in at 8:00am which was amazing. I had a quick nap, and then went for a little explore and got a massage before heading back to the airport later that night. I would highly recommend making the most of layovers like this and going out to explore! I think the airport even offers free layover tours, something I’ll look into next time.

Just a reminder that we are two months away from the next money sleepover retreat and I am SO excited! Only a few spots left if you’re keen to come ☺️ Let me know if you have any questions about it.

I’d also loooove your feedback on this newsletter! Reply and let me know what you’ve found helpful or if there are any specific kind of deals you’d like to see so we can find them!

From 17-23 September 2025, Woolworths is running a boosted Everyday Rewards offer:

  • Spend $150-249.99 → get 2,000 points

  • Spend $250-349.99 → get 5,000 points

  • Activate the deal in your Everyday Rewards app or via this link

  • Complete an eligible shop at Woolworths or MILKRUN

  • Scan your Everyday Rewards card at checkout

💡 What it’s worth

Maxing out the offer by spending $350+ in a single transaction, you’ll bank an extra 8,000 Everyday Rewards points → 4,000 Qantas Points.

That’s roughly enough for a short domestic one-way flight (plus fees + taxes) or $40 off your next Woolies shop!

Mobile plan check in 📱

When was the last time you checked your phone bill wasn’t ripping you off?

If you use around 20GB of data each month, that’s 240GB a year which means many annual or monthly SIM only plans can cover you for less than you might be paying now.

The biggest culprits for overspending?

  • Staying loyal to the big three telcos without checking alternatives

  • Paying for more data than you actually use

  • Forgetting to shop around after intro offer discounts expire

💡 Pro tip: SIM only plans with no lock in contracts let you switch anytime. If your usage changes or a better deal pops up, you’re not stuck.

We’ve taken the time to round up some of the best offers across popular telco providers, looking at their SIM only value plans, whether you pay monthly or annually, if the data rolls over, and which network you’ll be on.

So take this as your reminder to:

  • Check your current monthly data usage

  • Compare it against the table - you might be paying for way more than you need

  • Since these are all no lock in plans, you can switch anytime if a better deal comes up

Even a small swap could free up $20-30 per month (that’s $240-360 a year) without you noticing a difference in how you use your phone and can be put straight towards your investing goals!

P.S. If you’ve switched and scored a better deal, hit reply and tell us your money win.
